Live Blog: Oakland Roots at New Mexico United

Hello and welcome to the first Wednesday edition of the live blog, where everyone is fresh getting home from their day jobs. The Roots are 0-0-3 and looking for consistency heading into a difficult month of April, facing off with fourth-place New Mexico United, which is currently unbeaten at 2-1-0.

Click here to see Bloom’s match preview and our lineup guesses. For what it’s worth, the blog was intimated of some unexpected changes, and seeing the official Starting XI reflects that; my reaction below.

Key Events

Roots Goal – 90+1′

ROOTS GOAL!!!!! Chuy with a perfect cross to Tarek Morad for the goal! Morad’s first goal in an Oakland uniform.

New Mexico Goal – 70′

New Mexico Goal – 45+1

Roots Goal – 7′

CHARLIE DENNIS GOAL! Great buildup by Roots, Nane with a great assist, Dennis with the left-footed goal. His first for Oakland in the 7th minute. Dennis great in the buildup, dribbled himself free to find Edgardo Rito out wide. Rito sent in a pass that fell to Nane, setting up the assist.

Oakland Roots Starting XI reaction:

I guess the CDM pairing correctly. Fuenmayor at RB, theoretically allowing Juan Carlos Azocar to run on the left side. Edgardo Rito at RW, where I think he’ll be a big factor without having to worry about defense.
